Yorktown High School is a state-of-the-art, LEED Gold building, that opened in 2013 in Arlington County, Virginia, one of the fastest-growing counties in the U.S. Interior modifications were approved to increase the building’s student capacity.
Services
2RW conducted a feasibility study of the high school’s existing MEP systems to determine the necessary updates required to support potential renovations. 2RW provided the subsequent MEP engineering for the reconfiguration of the systems. The project features six additional classrooms, as well as the reconfiguration of teacher collaboration spaces, workspaces, and offices. The design also incorporated new audio-visual and information technology systems and charging systems throughout the building
Results
The renovations expanded the school’s capacity by 15% seats while delivering a more secure facility.
