MEP engineering for this restoration project supports lobby and theater upgrades, including new HVAC, lighting, power distribution, and auxiliary systems. The design also accommodates additions such as dressing rooms, reception, concessions, lounge, and an elevator, with coordination to deliver a code-compliant, cost-effective solution.

Project Goals

The Art Deco building to the non-profit State Theatre Foundation, Inc., which embarked on a project to restore the building interior and exterior. In 2008, the Theatre was placed on both the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places.

Services

2RW provided MEP design for this restoration project which included updates and additions to the lobby and theater areas. Upgrades included a new HVAC system, elevator, dressing rooms, reception area, concessions, lounge, and state-of-the-art lighting. 2RW worked closely with the architect and mechanical engineering contractor to provide a code-compliant and cost-effective design that met the mechanical contractor’s value-engineering recommendations. 2RW also provided MEP design and specifications for auxiliary systems, power distribution and circuiting, and interior lighting.
