2RW provided MEP engineering, energy modeling, and commissioning for this addition. A chilled water/heating water system was installed which consumes a minimum of 15% less energy as compared to the baseline building. Upon completion of the design, 2RW commissioned the mechanical and electrical systems to verify that systems were operating as designed. The facility was occupied during construction.

Project Goals

To provide more seats for the Loudoun County’s rapidly growing student population, the county constructed a two-story, 13,000 SF addition the existing Freedom High School. The new space includes classrooms, a multi-purpose and conference rooms, and storage space.

Services

2RW provided MEP/FP engineering, energy modeling, and commissioning services for this project which included re-configuring the existing floor plan and adding to the existing facility.  MEP/FP components of this project included:

  • Integrated building automation control systems (BAS) that are compliant with the original system
  • Low-voltage communication systems
  • Water-saving plumbing fixtures
  • Occupancy sensors to reduce electrical usage when rooms in use
