MEP engineering for this project included evaluating existing electrical and mechanical systems and designing targeted upgrades to support new laboratory equipment. The design accommodates both permanent and temporary systems during construction, with phased implementation coordinated to maintain uninterrupted lab operations.
2RW evaluated the lab’s existing electrical and mechanical infrastructure to confirm whether it could support the new equipment and designed the necessary upgrades. We created solutions that not only powered and cooled the new system but also supported temporary equipment during construction. Our team worked closely with UVA Project Services to phase the construction schedule, ensuring the lab could continue uninterrupted operations while the upgrades were completed.
The phased project successfully delivered expanded testing capacity and enhanced automation for the Clinical Core Lab. The improvements allow UVA Health to process specimens more efficiently and with greater accuracy, helping clinicians get faster results to guide patient care while ensuring the lab remains reliable, resilient, and adaptable for future technology updates.
