The scope of work addressed long-standing structural issues in the main building, building systems improvements, life safety systems, and code and ADA compliance. Work also included exterior repairs, restoration of the original main Dining Room, reconfiguration of other interior spaces to accommodate the new program, an elevator, and the renovation of the interior of the Garrett Hall Annex. The project complied with the University’s sustainability program, and took advantage of Virginia’s Rehabilitation Tax Credit program.

The MEP/FP system upgrades created a more comfortable environment for building occupants, reduced heating and electricity costs, and have enhanced the learning environment with the addition of natural ventilation and lighting strategies.
