10-classroom addition; a new entry vestibule and a health suite; and renovations to the existing kitchen, administration suite, and loading dock. Additional renovations include the replacement of the existing boiler, generator, and low-voltage systems (clock, security camera, security intrusion, cafeteria sound, and fire alarm).
2RW’s services included a field survey to determine replacement needs, identify potential connections, and verify existing conditions for a project that expanded the school with two additions housing 10 classrooms, an entry vestibule, and a health suite, while also modernizing the existing kitchen, administration suites, and MEP/FP systems. MEP/FP design included new central plant equipment with two high-efficiency, natural gas-fired condensing boilers serving the existing building, a separate central heating plant with two high-efficiency, natural gas-fired condensing boilers for the additions, modifications to existing sanitary, vent, and domestic hot and cold water piping to support the full renovation of the commercial kitchen, and new fire alarm, intercom, and security systems extended into the additions.
Construction was carefully coordinated with the owner and design team and completed over four phases to minimize disruption to the learning environment.
The new systems provide improved temperature and humidity control, enhancing comfort for students, teachers, and staff. High-efficiency systems are expected to reduce energy and water use.
