2RW provided MEP/FP engineering for this two-story, 12,000 SF building situated between Pinn Hall and the Primary Care Center. The new annex was a strategic move to temporarily relocate staff amidst a patient bed expansion project. 2RW also ensured the building met LEED Fundamental Commissioning standards, demonstrating our commitment to sustainable and energy-efficient design solutions.

Project Goals

UVa added a multi-story, modular, LEED Certified building next to its Medical Center to serve as temporary office space for Primary Care Center employees.

Services

2RW’s services included:

  • Site investigations to discover, verify, and evaluate existing conditions related to utility services for the Annex. Following the investigations, we provided:
  • Sustainable MEP/FP design for heat pumps, electrical systems, plumbing, fire sprinklers, and carbon dioxide sensing.
  • Design and specifications for building automation system.

Results

The University chose a modular solution for this structure with estimated usage of 10 to 15 years, but the product is of such high quality it will likely remain as a permanent structure.
