MEP engineering for this CTE center renovation supports classrooms, labs, and specialized training spaces including STEM workshops, vehicle and welding shops, culinary and carpentry areas, and healthcare training rooms. The design incorporates systems such as exhaust ventilation for hands-on work environments to safely accommodate a wide range of technical programs.

Project Goals

The career and technical education program at Goochland Tech provides students with opportunities to explore a range of careers such as such as robotics, imaging technology, mechanics, nursing, and culinary arts. In 2014, the center was renovated to modernize the facility and offer new programs relevant to a changing job market.

Services

2RW provided MEP engineering design for a variety of space for the CTE center renovation:

  • Classrooms and labs which maximized the use of space and accommodated new course offerings.
  • A workshop for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) projects with 3-D printers and laser cutters.
  • Vehicle maintenance and welding workshops with exhaust systems which allows students to safely work inside.
  • A culinary arts kitchen, a carpentry workshop, a heavy equipment servicing workshop, a robotics lab, and medical technician classroom.
