VCU is progressing on the creation of an off-campus Athletic Village, designed to provide enhanced space and state-of-the-art amenities for student-athletes, staff, spectators, and the broader community. The 43-acre project will be a comprehensive sporting hub, housing facilities such as a tennis center, soccer stadium, outdoor track stadium, practice fields, and a multi-purpose facility.

In an effort to emphasize sustainability, the planning phase of the project explored the possibility of implementing a central geothermal well field and all-electric building systems. These forward-thinking measures are aimed at achieving zero reliance on fossil fuels, aligning with a broader commitment to decrease the overall environmental impact of the development.

With the planning stage now approved, the design process for the track and field stadium, the first phase of the Athletic Village, is underway. VCU’s off-campus Athletic Village aims to stand as a testament to excellence, innovation, and environmental responsibility.
