In 2015, philanthropist Inger Rice made a donation to fund a multi-building overnight lodge and to contribute to the construction of a research laboratory on VCU property along the James River. The overnight lodge will allow the Rice Rivers Center to host top international ecologists conducting on-site research or multi-day fieldwork excursions.
