the Art Deco building to the non-profit State Theatre Foundation, Inc., which embarked on a project to restore the building interior and exterior. In 2008, the Theatre was placed on both the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places.

2RW provided MEP design for this restoration project which included updates and additions to the lobby and theater areas. Upgrades included a new HVAC system, elevator, dressing rooms, reception area, concessions, lounge, and state-of-the-art lighting. 2RW worked closely with the architect and mechanical engineering contractor to provide a code-compliant and cost-effective design that met the mechanical contractor’s value-engineering recommendations. 2RW also provided MEP design and specifications for auxiliary systems, power distribution and circuiting, and interior lighting.
