Minnieville Elementary School was expanded and renovated to improve and modernize the existing facilities and meet the needs of a growing student population.

Services

This project expanded the school’s capacity with two building additions that house 10 classrooms, an entry vestibule, and a health suite. It also modernized and updated the existing kitchen, administration suites, and MEP/FP systems.

2RW’s services included:

  • A field survey to determine replacement needs, identify potential connections, and verify existing conditions
  • MEP/FP design for:
    • New central plant equipment which includes two high-efficiency, natural gas-fired condensing boilers to serve the existing building
    • A new central heating plant with two high-efficiency, natural gas-fired condensing boilers to serve the additions
    • Modifications to the existing sanitary, vent, and domestic cold/hot water piping to support a complete renovation of the full-service commercial kitchen
    • New fire alarm, intercom, and security systems with extensions to the building additions
Results
  • The new systems are better able to maintain temperature and humidity conditions, making the school more comfortable for students, teachers, and staff.
  • The new high-efficiency systems are expected to reduce energy and water use.
