In August 1907, Charles Bellamy was issued the first professional engineering license. Today, there are more than 800,00 professional engineers (PEs) who have made the commitment to protect public health, safety, and welfare.
Engineers earn a license by completing a four-year college degree, working under the direction of a Professional Engineer for at least four years, and passing two intensive competency exams. After that, PEs must continually maintain and improve their skills throughout their careers. This rigorous process results in an engineer who has specialized skills, high standards for ethics, and quality assurance.
At 2RW, we encourage our engineers to become licensed PEs and support them through the process. To date, 40% of our design staff have earned their PE license.
Thank you to all the PEs at 2RW and our fellow PEs around the world. We appreciate your dedication and the hard work you do every day to create healthy, safe, and comfortable environments to live, work, and play.
