Construction is officially underway on the expansion of the Library of Virginia’s (LOV) State Records Center (SRC) in Henrico County. Grading is now complete, marking the beginning of a project that will significantly expand the Commonwealth’s capacity to store inactive, non-permanent state and local records in a secure, climate-controlled environment.
Driven by a joint initiative between the Library of Virginia and VCU Libraries, the expansion supports VCU’s broader efforts to modernize campus libraries by relocating a portion of their physical collections off-site. In total, the project will add more than 21,000 square feet and increase the SRC’s storage capacity to 825,000 cubic feet, enough to accommodate 20 years of growth. Renovations to over 9,000 square feet of administrative space are also included.
2RW is proud to provide MEP engineering services for this critical expansion, supporting long-term performance, energy efficiency, and reliability.
