2RW joined 40 other organizations to urge the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County to set stronger climate action goals as part of a new, joint climate-planning effort.
Led by Charlottesville Climate Collaborative (C3), 41 local businesses and non-profits signed a letter asking the City and County to adopt climate goals in line with the latest IPCC report. These include a 45% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050. Additional suggestions included a bi-annual greenhouse gas inventory and adoption of pro-clean energy policies such as Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) and a more-expansive Clean Energy Loan Fund (CLEF).
