The new Charlottesville Fire Station 1 has earned LEED Gold certification, recognizing the project’s commitment to energy efficiency, sustainability, and high-performance design. The certification marks another milestone for the City of Charlottesville as it continues to invest in resilient, environmentally responsible public facilities.
2RW provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services for the new 21,000-square-foot station, designed to support the operational demands of a modern fire and rescue facility while reducing long-term energy use and operating costs.
Designed to serve firefighters around the clock, the facility incorporates high-performance MEP systems that enhance occupant comfort, improve indoor environmental quality, and increase overall building efficiency. Careful coordination of building systems supports the station’s emergency response functions while helping the City advance its sustainability and climate goals.
