Built in 1838 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Halifax County Courthouse houses records dating back to 1752. The County undertook a major renovation and expansion to modernize the historic courthouse and its 1960s annex; create space for the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office and for the circuit, general district, and juvenile and domestic relations courts; and provide upgraded facilities for the storage and protection of archival records.
2RW provided comprehensive MEP/FP engineering services for all phases of this project, including:
Temporary Relocation: Mary Bethune Office
Historic Courthouse and Annex Renovation
Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office Addition
The completed project preserved the historic fabric of the courthouse while delivering modernized, secure, and efficient spaces to support the County’s judicial and administrative functions and ensure long-term protection of vital records.
