Behind The Dental Chair: Renovating for Accessibility and Education

A dental clinic is more than what happens in the chair. 2RW’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering builds the systems and tools for a comfortable, functional environment for patients while giving students the hands-on experience they need to learn. At Virginia Commonwealth University’s Lyons School of Dentistry, the renovation transformed an existing lab into a specialized clinic designed to support people with disabilities and the next generation of dental professionals. With thoughtful air control and vacuum pressure, the space was designed for accessibility, adaptability, and better equipped for learning.
