Ground-breaking for the much-anticipated renovation of James Madison University’s Carrier Library took place in early July. This project aims to create an innovative, research, and learning hub for students and the community. The renovation focuses on enhancing accessibility, connecting the library to nearby buildings, and incorporating technology-rich spaces for teaching and collaboration.
2RW is providing sustainable MEP engineering design for the renovation, seamlessly integrating modern and efficient systems while preserving the building’s historic features. The redesigned library will offer a range of spaces and amenities, including 24-hour student study areas, reading rooms, makerspaces, and multimedia studios, catering to both traditional and contemporary learning experiences.
The updated Carrier Library, scheduled for completion in time for the 2026-2027 academic year, will foster creativity, enhance JMU’s national university status, and cultivate a vibrant learning community.
