The third round of the Charlottesville Better Business Challenge wrapped up with an inspirational awards night at the Paramount Theater on Thursday, June 20. The evening celebrated the collective environmental impact of 93 local businesses and non-profits who came together in support of local climate action. Collectively, Challenge participants took over 500 actions that are projected to save $675,000 per year and avoid 4,260 tons of CO2 emissions.
2RW is proud to have been involved in this year’s Challenge—as a participating business, a steering committee member, and a technical advisor.
We were also honored to be joined by our colleagues from VMDO Architects (winner of the Lasting Changemaker award for their commitment to net zero buildings via the AIA 2030 Challenge), Grimm + Parker Architects, and the University of Virginia. As stewards of the built environment, architects and engineers are uniquely qualified to guide building owners in making choices that will impact their facilities’ energy consumption. With the built environment accounting for 40% of U.S. energy use, 2RW considers it our responsibility to help clients understand the environmental implications of design options and make informed decisions that will help mitigate the effects of climate change. We are inspired by our partners who have committed to the AIA 2030 Challenge.
