The University of Virginia’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) and Facilities Management (FM) departments collaborated to fulfill their needs for better workshop spaces in this shared facility. The University split the project into three phases, utilizing a design-build approach for the SEAS core and shell and fit-out phases and internal construction services for the FM fit-out phase.
2RW provided a variety of services for this project which included:
2RW worked closely with University faculty and staff as they identified the facility’s overlapping uses and consolidated them into a cost-effective design that met their unique needs. Close collaboration of the users and design/construction teams ensured that task-specific design requirements such as lighting levels, equipment power requirements, exhaust, thermal comfort conditions, and environmental controls were satisfied while staying within the project’s budget.
