2RW engineers conducted an energy survey of NASA Goddard/Greenbelt facilities in support of an Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC). The 2RW team was responsible for the mechanical systems including air handlers and air distribution systems, controls, utility metering, ground source heat pumps, and energy innovation.
2RW engineers conducted site surveys at twelve buildings including the facility that houses the Hubbell Space telescope service bay. The scope of work also included re-commissioning (Re-Cx) of three facilities. 2RW conducted annual hour-by-hour energy simulations of the following four buildings using the TRACE™ 700 Version 6.2 Building Energy and Economic Analysis simulation software, local weather data, and utility data trended at the NASA GSFC Energy Management Control System (EMCS).
The purpose of this effort was to compare design simulations with operational energy use and predict how much energy could be saved from additional energy conservation measures (ECMs). 2RW developed and evaluated:
